Credit a beneficiary
How a credit institution receives a payment request, credits the beneficiary, and handles repeated requests safely.
A Credit Instruction tells the credit institution to credit a beneficiary account. Blinc sends it as a protected POST request. The institution checks the instruction and, if all checks pass, credits the beneficiary's account once and responds that the credit was successful. If a check fails, the institution does not credit the account and responds with the reason for the rejection.
The credit-instruction endpoint is the HTTPS URL agreed during onboarding. Blinc sends the request to this URL.
Request
After receiving the request, decrypt it and verify the signature before reading the payment details. The request body follows the Credit Instruction schema. It tells the institution which beneficiary should receive the money, how much should be credited, which payment references to retain, and how the fees and settlement amount are divided.

}InstdAmt is the full payment amount. Chrgs shows the credit institution's commission, while TtlChrgs shows the total fee paid by the merchant. For example, on a NGN 500,000.00 payment with a NGN 2,500.00 total fee and a NGN 250.00 commission, the beneficiary receives NGN 497,500.00. The total fee is deducted only once. The request does not list the other participants who share the fee.
Response and what happens next
After checking the request, the institution sends a protected response. The response identifies the payment and states the outcome. ACSC means the beneficiary was credited successfully. RJCT means the institution did not credit the beneficiary's account. When a request is rejected, the response includes the reason in StsRsnInf. It may also include a posting reference in the supplementary data.
If Blinc does not receive the response, it may send the same request again. The new delivery has a new timestamp, signature, and encryption, but the payment details and references remain the same. Before crediting the account, the institution must check whether it has already completed that payment. If it has, it must return the original response without crediting the beneficiary again.
A request may be rejected for several reasons: FF01 means the request has an invalid format; AG01 means the signature is invalid; AG02 means the timestamp is too old or too far in the future; AC01 means the beneficiary's account is invalid; and AM04 means the account cannot receive the amount. See errors and retries for more information.
Credit Instruction is the request that tells the institution to credit the beneficiary's account. Credit Notification reports that money has already been credited; it does not initiate another transfer or require the institution to move money.
